You Have Options
If you suffer from stained, broken or uneven teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help but it differs from orthodontic treatment, which works to straighten your teeth with braces or other devices, says Medline Plus. Whether you want to bleach your teeth to look whiter, you want to repair chips with material that matches your other teeth or you want to close up a gap between teeth, cosmetic dentistry may be the way to go. Of course, you’ll have to sit down with your dentist to go over your options based on your medical history and unique situation.
The dentists at Metroplex Implants & Family Dentistry will take the time to sit down with you during a consultation to discuss what can be done to fix your smile. Many North Texans opt for cosmetic dentistry once or twice in their lives. If you’re going to get it done, you need to get it done right! Call for an appointment today at 972-734-1772.
Nervous about the next step? Don’t be — we have caring, friendly professionals on staff who work hard to make sure you’re comfortable from the moment you walk in our doors. Let’s go over some of the cosmetic dentistry procedures we offer here at Metroplex Implants & Family Dentistry:
Over time, food and drink can stain your teeth, leaving them yellowed or discolored. Many factors contribute to the need for teeth whitening, including:
- Cigarette smoking
- Red wine
- Blueberries, blackberries, etc.
You may have tried whitening toothpaste or at-home teeth whitening treatments to no avail. That’s because they’re not strong enough to do the job like our products in the office do. Our dentists know just how to apply it, for how long and in what dose for optimal effect. We can help you achieve that sparkling smile you’ve been looking for in Dallas — once and for all.
Bonding employs a semi-permanent filling for your teeth that will repair chips or breaks, as well as cover exposed roots and cavities. Once bonded, the tooth will instantly look flawless or very close to it, and the bonding material will last for years. The procedure is relatively quick, and typically can be completed in a single visit. The procedure involves applying a tooth-colored resin material that is hardened onto the tooth with a special light that acts to bond the material to the tooth.
How do you know if you’re a good candidate for bonding? You may qualify for bonding if you need to:
- Repair decayed teeth
- Repair chipped or cracked teeth
- Close spaces and gaps
- Improve appearance of yellowed teeth
- Elongate or change the shape of teeth
- Protect the root that has been exposed due to gum recession
Veneers are thin shells made from plastic or porcelain that perfectly fit over an existing tooth. Our dentists will take an impression of your upper and lower teeth, and then use that to create a custom set of veneers. If you have broken or chipped teeth, spaces between your teeth, or teeth that are permanently discolored, veneers can transform your smile. Veneers last much longer than dental bonding, and are less expensive than dental crowns. Porcelain veneers need to be made in a dental lab, and will require at least two visits to complete.
Lumineers are a specific brand of dental veneer, manufactured by the DenMat company. They’re much thinner than other brands, featuring a translucent appearance that makes them appear virtually identical to real tooth enamel. There is no need for your tooth enamel to be shaved down in order to apply Lumineers. They also happen to be very durable, typically lasting as long as 20 years or more. You only need to make two office visits in most cases. During the first appointment, we will create a mold of your teeth and you can choose the color veneers you would prefer.
Once that step is done, we send your molds off to be manufactured into custom veneers. Once finished, you will come in for another appointment for installation, which takes about an hour.
