Live Life Again with Dentures!
For too long, you’ve gone without the ability to eat what you want, when you want. Perhaps you’ve had bad experiences with ill-fitting dentures in the past. Well, worry no more…here at Metroplex Implants & Family Dentistry, we can restore that beautiful smile of yours with custom crafted dentures and partial dentures. It’s time you took back your life and got dental appliances that are fitted to YOUR mouth by a talented team of dentists and lab technicians. Let’s take a look at the differences between full dentures and partial dentures.
What are Partial Dentures?
A partial denture is removable, designed to combine replacement teeth and natural teeth through an attachment to a plastic base. We craft the base to match your gums in color, connecting it by a metal framework that keeps the denture secured.
You may be the best candidate for a partial denture if one or more of your natural teeth are still in place in your upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures not only fill the spaces left by your missing teeth, they also prevent your other teeth from moving out of position.
What are Full Dentures?
Full dentures, also known as complete dentures, are available in two types: conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are created after your teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has sufficient time to heal. Most patients will be ready for conventional dentures after about eight to 12 weeks after having their teeth removed.
Immediate dentures are a bit different from conventional dentures because they are formed beforehand for immediate placement in your mouth after the teeth have been removed. Immediate dentures are desired by most patients because you don’t have to live without teeth for several weeks to months. With this option, the dentures work for you while the bone and gums are healing.
That said, adjustments are typically needed as the immediate denture settles in and has to be tweaked for comfort and alignment. Eventually, you will transition into a more permanent denture.
